Every summer, the Costa Blanca becomes a nesting ground for loggerhead turtles — a magical but delicate event.
Thanks to the work of the University of Valencia and local conservationists, more and more nests are being discovered and protected along our beaches, including here in Santa Pola.
While it’s a wonderful sight, turtles need peace and quiet to safely lay their eggs. If you spot turtle tracks or see a turtle coming ashore, please keep your distance and call 112 right away. Trained teams will step in to protect the nest and give these incredible creatures the best chance of survival.
Together, we can help ensure the next generation of turtles makes it safely back to the sea.
