Salt Museum
Set inside an old salt factory, the Salt Museum dives into the history of salt extraction and the rich wildlife of the surrounding Nature Reserve.
The reserve, protected since 1988, covers 2,500 hectares of wetlands where salt production and nature work hand in hand. Seawater flows through ponds year-round, creating a thriving habitat for birds and marine life and some of the purest salt you’ll ever see.
Maritime Museum
Inside the Castle, the Maritime Museum brings Santa Pola’s story to life across three exciting sections:
1. History and Archaeology (South Wing)
Travel back to the prehistoric era, meet the Iberians, explore the Roman Port, and uncover the Castle’s origins.
2. Sea and Fishing (North Wing)
Discover how fishing shaped Santa Pola’s past, from small-scale tradition to booming industry, all through real boats, tools, and stories from the sea.
3. Music and the Sea (East Wing)
Explore the roots of Santa Pola’s music scene and visit the remains of the 14th-century Port Tower, the town’s first defensive hub.
Boat Museum
Step aboard the Esteban González in Constitution Square and dive into the real life of Santa Pola’s fishermen.
This authentic fishing boat shows what life at sea was really like, from “bottom-trawling,” the town’s most iconic fishing method, to daily life onboard and its impact on Santa Pola’s growth.
What you’ll explore:
Climb aboard from the stern, visit the navigation bridge, walk the bow for epic views, peek inside cabins and the engine room, see the original galley where the crew lived and explore the boat’s huge hold.
