Locals call this Chocolate Plaza for a reason, it’s the go-to spot for the best hot chocolate and churros in town, especially at breakfast.
Right next to it, you’ll find Santa Pola’s Central Market, a buzzing hub of fresh produce, seafood, meats, and irresistible pastries. Open every day from 8am to 2pm (closed Sundays), it’s where locals come to haggle hard, pick the freshest fruit and veg, and grab the best cuts of meat and fish which are often trimmed and prepped just for you.
The market spills outdoors too, with sunny cafés serving coffee, snacks, and, of course, more churros. You’ll often catch live music while you sip and snack.
Top tip: buy loose fruit and veg to save cash and cut down on packaging, and treat yourself to a taste of Spain at the deli counters stacked with Serrano ham, chorizo, olives, and more.
